You look over the other SILVER PLATTER(S) AND FOODSTUFFS. They seem just like they did a few minutes ago. The SILVER PLATTER in your hand is starting to weigh you down. You'd better do what you want to do sharpish!

Well, I put the RING OF KEYS in my INVENTORY and take the SILVER PLATTER back to the entrance of the dark room. I wait for the door to open.

You put the SILVER PLATTER in your INVENTORY and walk over to the entrance and hold up your RING OF KEYS.

Yes. The Narrator never said it closed, dummy.

I bend down, crouched on the balls of my feet, pulling the silver platter out. I hold out the silver platter, catching the light and reflecting it into the darkness to see if there are real snakes in there or not.

You try to catch some light on the RING OF KEYS but they are made of a dull metal and do not illuminate anything.

I thought I'm trying to use a silver platter, not the ring of keys, to catch the light.

I go back to the table and grab a different silver platter, trying my technique again, leaving the first one stashed in my INVENTORY.

I try to reflect light from the SILVER PLATTER into the dark room so I can see what's making the hissing noise.

You try to shed some light on the situation (oh ho ho) but without much effect. All that you can see from this is a small patch of floor tile with nothing peculiar about it.

I listen to hear where exactly the hissing noise is coming from. I have another idea now...

The Hissing seems to be coming from around foot level.
