I take the wires and manual, opening up the latter.

The manual is full of computer jargon that you find confusing and the wires are old and dusty.

I try to follow the manual to turn on the computer. ((*grins* How could I resist?))

...Are you completley retarded? Ahem! I, uh, mean: The manual says: To ACTIVATE your PERSONAL COMPUTER press the START BUTTON. There is a helpful picture of the button put in to help those with short attention spans.

Nope, just easily amused! ;D
I press the start button (if this button was any different from the 'on' button I pressed earlier.)

It is the same button. The narrator is English while the manual is sadly American-made.

Oh, ha-ha! I decide to check the back of the manual to see if they have any instructions on repairing the computer. Though I sincerely doubt it, I decide not to chance it.

Excuse me Mr. Narrator, what does "..." mean? I gave a legitimate command!

You decided NOT to chance it, dear. You canceled out your own command.

When I said, "not chance it," I simply meant that I decided to not chance missing any information that might be in the manual. Or in other words, I read the manual.

Be more specific then, dearie!
After spending about six hours reading (somehow without dying of boredom) you now find you are ravenously hungry and thirsty.

That cheese looks tempting.... I shake my head, deciding to look in the second drawer.

I pull out the second key, trying to see if it fits.
