Severus sits alone in the corner of a room lost in a curious work of fiction by an unsung author. He glances at the calender, a look of apathy on his features. Thankfully, this day only comes around once a year. And should he play his cards right, it will once again slip by unnoticed. He looks at his watch. Just a few more hours. Then it's over.

*knocks on the door to the room* Severus, are you in there?

He does not make a sound. By know means must he be in contact with anyone until 12:00 am; when this horrid day is over and done with.

"HAPPY B-DAY SEVY!!!" Serena jumps out of a hidden hole in the wall.

Snape's eye starts twitching in such a way that conveys he is not at all happy about this situation. He has put a lot of time and effort into avoiding human contact for the last thirteen hours, and now that it's apparent that this was all done in vain . . . Let us just say that he's not very pleased at the moment.

((so I guessed right? wow!))
"come on Severus, do try to be a cheerful bloke even if it IS against your nature to allow yourself even a smidget of fun!" She gives severus a small nudge and hug.

"Off."
With that he unceremoniously rips off the cone party hat. Blue is simply not his color anyway. He continues to look sour despite Serena's insisting that he be cheerful.

Severus arches an eyebrow. What ever the term "emo" describes he is certain that he does not fall under that context. And he is correct, for there is a profound difference between feeling constantly sorry for yourself for no particular reason, and being consistantly angery.

Looks at him..."hahah, your spelled angry wrong--NOW SKLIP AROUND THE ROOM SKIP AROUND THE ROOM--WE WON'T SHUT UP TILL YOU SKIP AROUND THE ROOM!" before she continues singing Serena gets an intelligent idea. She puts up an anit-magic barrier and blocks the exits--then continues the obnoxious chant.

*comes in with a giant birthday cake, the full horrific three layers, sickeningly sweet icing, and lots and lots of birthday candles* Hurry up darling, or we'll never get to eat this thing. And yes, Pan, one of the layers has strawberries.

Severus's eyes widen in mild shock, with a tinge of horror. They couldn't have . . . They didn't . . . But they did. A very strange position Snape is in, indeed. Not in many a year has anyone actually acknowledge this day as his birthday (how they knew it is today is beyond him). The emotions he is feeling are completely alien to him. Most would be rather touched by this clumsy display of affection. But Severus, having next to no experience in this area, is both startled and annoyed. He merely sits there mouth agape, with is large dark eyes protruding out of his skull.
