I'm having a phase. Well, it's not a phase. It's actually my second one, since I went through this in high school. But this time, I've actually drawn more digimon than I did back then. And this time, all of them are original. I'm piecing together my own digi-destined team. Seven and I are both a part of it, but her digimon isn't finished yet, because I left it up to her. :3 My concepts are, on the other hand, are all finished though they are finished to varying degrees. I cranked these things out in a couple of days, so...I couldn't polish everything up. The first one is my digimon. This one was both the easiest, and the furthest developed, because all I had to do was take my design from high school and draw it better. I just did a little tweaking, and I had something great. Meet Nolinomon (I think I'll just stick with that name). She's a cross between a panther and a reptile. As far as style goes, she was inspired by guilmon and gatomon. As much as I disliked guilmon as a character, I thought his design was a big improvement over previous digimon, as far as complexity goes. That, and he was all red and black, my favorite colors. Included in the image are Nolinomon's picture are both her newly hatched and In-Training forms. Aaaaand I don't have names yet for anyone else. In the interest of just getting these images uploaded, I'm going to leave them nameless for now. I'm hoping to ink and color each design in, so when I upload those I'll include the names then. Coming up next is Crevan's digimon (Yeah, I gave certain characters in a certain thread digimon...). He is influenced by wizardmon, renamon, and palmon as far as design goes. His rookie form also got two pictures. He doesn't have arms. Instead, he has a leaf-cape that behaves like wings. I felt the need to try and illustrate this, hence the second picture. Next, Molly's digimon. He's a bug/bird combo. I mostly used biyomon as my reference, though a few of the touches are directly inspired by tentamon. Next, we have Evening's digimon. This is a playful, mischevious digimon inspired by gomamon, the one and only. Last, we have a mysterious digimon who nobody owns. It has patamon's wing-ears, though these are dragonfly based. It has legs much like gomamon's, and gatomon's long, ringed tail. I felt discontent about Molly's digimon, so I tried drawing another one, but this one doesn't really look like anyone's digimon. Molly's current digimon certainly suits him better. So if anyone out there reading this wants to adopt a digimon, this one is up for grabs. I'll even let you pick your colors! No black, though. It's tradition for the digi-destined to have bright digimon. That's everything for now. I still have more work to do on these, and I'm also considering champion forms for each. If I'm on-task, this thread will be seeing lots more updates.

Aw, it's so much nicer to be able to see this pictures nice and big, rather than on my phone. Lots of fun. Nolinomon is definitely my favorite. Her design is just amazingly cool, and her former forms are adorable. You really worried too much about them being too simple: it's true that sometimes less is more, and they definitely look professional. I can't wait to see what color scheme you choose for these critters in particular. Also, the sort of glove/claw hands are really cool, and I didn't really notice it before. It's a nice touch. Not too dramatic, but very cool. Also, I'm flattered you did Crevan's, because you made his fantastic as well. Technically my second favorite, but it was close. Nolinomon just looks exceptionally polished and beautiful. Here, the carnivorous looking sprout on this guy/girl's head is really neat. It'd be kind of funny if it was semi-sentient and did crap on its own at times. It just seems hungry to me, haha. Plus, it's sort of funny to me since this critter looks rather solemn. In any case, Crevan definitely approves. Aw, I don't know. I could go on for a long time, but right now, I'm not even sure if this message will post at all with my craptastic internet connection, and I'm starting to feel like each sentence longer is adding to some sort of jinx. Plus, I'm getting to the point where my only comment would essentially be "SQUEE!" All of your designs are so clever and original. Perhaps you should make your own monster-stylized anime show. You'd really rock it out. *hugs*

Aw, I'm really glad you like them! *hugs back* I wish I could find work designing monsters for shows, or at least cards. I really have a passion for it, and it comes naturally to me. But I feel like most of that stuff originates in Asia...still, it's something to keep an eye out for. It seems that, as much as kids love lovable monsters, there might be a job opening somewhere. Someday. *sighs wistfully* As for the owner-less digimon...well, maybe it becomes friends with one of the digimon in the group and follows them the way we wish wizardmon could have continued to follow gatomon. I put my vote in for the creature following Crevan's digimon, since he's the one inspired by wizardmon and elements of the mystery digimon are reminiscent of gatomon. Either way, it would be cute. :3 And I still don't know if Mysteriomon (I use that name playfully, but now it's in danger of sticking. ) is male or female. We'll just have to give it a gender androgynous voice and let everyone take their best guess. I think your ideas concerning the toothed plant-bud of Crevan's digimon are pretty good, especially since he's so sombre and serious looking. It would amuse me greatly if the bud had uncomfortably opinionated moments. *grins*

Well, if you want to be an artist for designing monsters, you might want to look into working for Wizards of the Coast or like business. Though I do think it is a fairly good time to be an independent artist too, with the internet and Kickstarter and everything else designed for getting your stuff known. In terms of finding work, I honestly think the best thing you can do is really polish a few pieces up, put together a portfolio, and make a personal website with your art. I have some friends who know a lot about doing that, and if you have a website, it allows people to find you.
Anyways, off of dumb serious topics like the real world... That is a cute idea with Mysteriomon. Heh. Mysteriomon is a funny name, but if it sticks I think that's fine. There were a lot of digimon that had names that were just nouns + "mon". In fact, the digimon I'm plotting out will be one of those. In any case, Crevan's digimon (which I'm tempted to call Leafymon, since that's just be silly) would love to be friends with Mysteriomon. It would be cute. And on that note, I'm glad you liked the idea of the tooth plant-bud. Oh yeah, bring on the uncomfortable, opinionated comments. ;D

I'll have to look into that. I really am beginning to wish I could use photoshop to illustrate images. It's easier to make things look super polished that way. (and when I say easier, I mean the end result is more effective. As we've discussed, I find coloring images in photoshop to be a frustrating and tedious struggle.)The next best thing would be painting... Bleh, I don't even know what to do with myself. Maybe I should give up on Ceramics and take a digital illustration course instead. It's so hard to decide on a future path...why can't anything ever be easy? As for Mysteriomon...I don't know if the name will actually stick. I'm thinking it won't. Except as a nickname. It's too catchy to pass up entirely. B) I feel weird thinking about it so much, however, since this is just a for-fun concept that won't go anywhere. It's good fodder for a light-hearted thread that would be just for fun...but I know what I turn those into. The short post theme never lasts for long.

Nolinomon is fully colored and named. The newly hatched (Slime) form is Limon, and her in-training form is Noctmon. Crevan's digimon is up next. Do you want Leafymon to stick, Seven? We could also name him after foliage, so Foliamon or something along those lines. It's up to you, but if you're set on Leafymon, let me know now.

*Jaw drop* You don't know how good this looks. OMG!
The colors you picked for these three just make the picture go from great to fantastic! And, you kept to your rule from staying away from black! And it's true, your updated Nolinomon is infinitely more professional and better looking than the on you did in high school, which was still pretty cool in itself. This just looks so polished and so good--it seems like you just drew a digimon that actually existed!
As for the name Leafymon, that was just a joke. Since Crevan's real name is Lief, and it'd sound pretty similar. Leafymon is sort of silly sounding. I really don't know what he'll be called, but I'm sure we'll come up with something. It'll probably end up being some nonsensical word honestly.

You don't even know how hard it was for me not to use black. I was even bargaining with myself over it. I was all like "Surely I can just make this tuft of hair on her chest black. She'll still be predominantly white and brightly colored...okay, maybe not the black tuft, since that's still a part of her and it hints at a darkness the good digimon aren't supposed to have, but what if I made the gloves black? Those are removable, so they aren't actually a part of her..." In the end, I stopped my bargaining and just went with grey, but it wasn't easy. As for naming Crevan's digimon Leafymon, I figured you brought it up just for the name similarity, but just in case you weren't only kidding I wanted to bring it up before I tried to come up with something else. Of course, if you're on board, I'll just leave his forms nameless for now and let you come up with the names later. I can color them without the names, after all.

So, I'm attempting to use the proboards system of uploading a file and seeing if it'll work. But here it is, my digimon. Going with the cliche name of Trixtermon... or maybe just Trixermon. Whatever. Fulfilling the magic quota. I was also toying with the idea that the digimon is actually the clothing, and the body inside of it is just a mannequinn it manipulates, hence being the true trick. I even drew on seams on the face in the event I wanted to do this. Also decided to incorporate the different suites of cards in the design. Clover suspenders, spades and diamond staffs/weapons. I couldn't figure out what to do with hearts, so I decided that it was probably hidden underneath his/her/its...belly shirt, and could possibly be its weak point. Maybe. Also, yes, that is a yo-yo in its hand. Anyways, just the rough draft. I originally wanted to do a cute, playful pose, but that wasn't working since I didn't have the design down. So yeah. Here it is I guess.

Wow, that is one impressive digimon! I love how playful she looks. :3 I also have to admit that she seems extra intense to me because, while I see wizardmon in her, I also see puppetmon. But puppetmon was always kind of a lonely mega who just wanted some friends. Which makes it kind of sweet that Trixtermon will start out with plenty of friends.
The detailing on this one is incredible. I love the card suit theme. Is she a gambler? I bet she'd be good at it. :3 And her hat is really snazzy. I love the stitching, and the way her clothes hang loosely on her frame, and just everything!
I'm totally going to force you to color this one at some point. You know that, right?

New note: I also like how her hat is about to eat her head, the the little flame at the tip is really nice. I can imagine it always flickering, even when she's still.

Crevan's digimon is complete! Well, not quite. I don't have names for him. I'm leaving that one to Serena. Anyway, here he is. I think his Slime form is a little disproportionately small. It should be closer in size to his In-Training form. But that's what happens when you try to cram too much on a piece of paper that doesn't have enough room.
