This is a fairly new character of mine, the white ghoul named Remsing. Well--he's not that new, it's just that I rare to never do enough with him. He's only got one other picture so far which I drew back on March 30, 2010 (holy crap! over a year ago! I guess he's not a new character at all -_-). I guess I can include that one at the bottom of this message for comparison. Anyways, I guess I was feeling pretty frustrated for a number of reasons at the time I was drawing this...and I guess that got channeled. I have one fucking pissed off Remsing who seems to be rather...erm...scuffed up. The picture still needs a lot of work (and editing), but...*shrugs* I think Asila wanted to see it, so here it is. Well, I guess I should give a brief background on Remsing and him being a ghoul or what not. The ghouls (of course) are some sort of monsters in some magic-based world. Ghouls are basically nasty little buggers--not particularly easy on the eyes either. They all basically know how to shape-shift to some degree though, but the majority still keep the majority of their ugly characteristics when assuming another form. Remsing is the leader of a clam, and pretty powerful, and pretty inventive with spells, and thus has more or less got the transformation thing mastered. Except, I think he had a stroke of vain sometime in his past and he tried to do a semi-permanent transformation to make himself more respectable looking all the time, and it kind of failed. Or only half way worked. *Shrugs* In any case, the right side of his face is his original, rather bulky one. The skin there is supposed to be black as well, save for around his eye. In any case, because he's a shape-shifter, his appearance his essentially consolidated. He has made it so his clothes and his body essentially... mesh, unless he otherwise chooses so. This will probably be easier to see in the old picture, which I might as well post here.

O.M.G. *is obviously very excited, for she would never use those letters i that fashion if she wasn't* This picture is incredible! I mean that, Seven. I have been on deviantart for the past fifteen minutes looking for battle poses, and this one trumps them all! You are so amazing! *glomps*
And on top of the amazing pose, I love that Remsing just has so much attitude. The dude is intense. Don't know how else to say it. And I just LOVE that fact. And it is very cool that he looks as battered here as Anonyma looked in my latest picture! They really are great companion pieces. I'm tempted to post Anonyma here, too, so that I can see them together. But I don't want to hijack your thread.
I would also like to point out how much I love that scruffy mane of hair he had! It just has so much character! Like everything else about him! And I think his monster hand looks perfect in it's grotesqueness. Don't you dare change it!
This is just so cool, Seven! I'm so glad that you've drawn him again! You really made my night!

So, here's the character that Remsing has captured. Her name is Anonyma. She is an Arakun (meaning Raccoon in Cherokee, I believe), which is a clan of Native American totem or spirit animals. She is also a thief. The concept behind her is that her people once had a great deal of power, but as their human counterparts were wiped out and alienated from their culture so, too, did the Arakun grow fewer in number and more detached from what they are. For Anonyma, this resulted in her running around like a degenerate, nabbing things that aren't hers, getting into scrapes, and just living it up on the dark side of life. She has a great deal of potential in the form of latent power that she has never been taught to access. The idea is that Remsing knows this makes her great gladiator potential for his fighting ring, but also easy to capture because while she is strong she is also incredibly erratic and disorganized as far as that strength goes. She is also very clever, however, and her ability to think fast is usually what keeps her out of trouble. Unfortunately for her, Remsing just happened to be one step ahead. In this picture, Anonyma is looking grungy and disgruntled because she's just been returned to her cage after a fight. Yet her viciousness does not fade with injury, hence the reason she still looks angry. The eye in the bars is only how I intended her own to look. I'll erase it when I finally ink the thing in. This is Anonyma's first character sketch. I might as well add here that the reason she wears that crazy hat is because her own ears were shredded in some of the fights she'd gotten into when she was younger than she is now. She's over-compensating. She's also very touchy over the issue.

I'm so glad that you've drawn him again! You really made my night! Aww, thanks Asila! I admit, I'm quite proud of the pose. But then, Remsing doesn't have a completely human muscular/skeletal system, does he? I always imagined ghouls to have the potential to be more...hunched. It let me cheat a little in the placing of the left shoulder and the neck in general. I just knew from the second I started drawing, I wanted him hunched over, low to the ground, and glaring up through messy hair. Even though he's fairly permanently in a more human form, I really wanted to his behavior to reflect that he is a ghoul. He's been hurt (how--eh, I'll make that up later), and it seems like he'd revert back to that more animalistic nature the lesser ghouls all have. Even so, I did have my debates about the pose. The monster hand I was talking (the one I thought about changing), isn't the one in the foreground, but the one in the back, holding the weapon. The change I thought about was this: originally, I thought that both of his hands would be hanging low in the foreground to add to the hunched over look. However, somehow, I ended up drawing it in the back, and I wasn't sure I liked it. I was still thinking about having it the other way. Well, in any case, after I posted this, I tried drawing in the hand so that it was also hanging in the foreground like the other one very lightly to decide which I liked better. I realized that I liked the sense of balance have the hand in the background has instead. That, and I would have screwed up the anatomy if I had done it otherwise--so I just ended up erasing it and leaving the 2nd monster hand as it was. *grins* Yeah, I do like the hair too. It's part of my favorite thing. Now, I just need to figure out how "colors" are going to work with Remsing's clothing, since they're technically part of him. Even though I know he's basically white, from hair to skin, I guess I feel I need some sort of variation otherwise it'll be boring. I'm not quite sure what to do yet though, since his shirt seems to run into his skin though. Maybe I just need to ink it and play around with it in photoshop to figure that out. Changing gears, I'm so happy that you posted your Anonyma pictures with mine! Now, everything is complete! Aaahh, I just love our scruffy, messed up characters. It's fun to imagine that they fought, considering that they're both messed up and on the same thread now. Hehehe. Sorry. Anonyma has the most kick-ass attitude about her. Her stance--even though she's obviously be brutally assaulted, she still seems so tense and ready to fight and defend herself (even if her legs refuse to move), and she has such a strong expression. It's sort of painful to think of her like this. She's so strong, even though she's been badly hurt, she's not going to go down! It's cool! I love it. Her tail sticking up helps show that too. It seems like such an animal thing to do. (hehehe--Remsing would have made fun of her for that if he had seen it.) And the bars' shadows just add to the atmosphere. (You did such a great job with the shadows falling over her, by the way!)

So, keeping with my streak of evil--or at least, quasi-evil--I've decided to upload some more pictures! Yaaaaay? *ehem* I was sort of inspired by the Remsing picture to do this one. It came from the original thought of, "I still want to do something hunched over with monster hands, but with both hands in the foreground like I originally planed!" I thought it would be fun to draw another ghoul for Remsing's clan....but that didn't quite happen. Instead, I ended up with this little shadow monster-thing. Or rather, late in the BB series (book 8 actually), what turns out to be how Ren perceives Wasewg's aura. Don't ask. You'll have to get Aka to explain the whole aura thing. In any case, yah...this dude. He's watching you....curiously. Meet Eve. She claims it's short for "evil," but then again, she's only 14. It's probably just a phase *rolls eyes* trying to act cool, she'll grow out of it, right? Eve attends Premier Prep High School, the best private high school in....fictional, fiction land. She's the niece of the newly promoted assistant dean of the science department there. She doesn't really like science. Or anything, for that matter. No, that's a lie. She has a favorite band, "Dead Cat," whose band shirt you can see she is wearing. You know, behind her grinding fist. *ehem* In any case, she's one of the characters I've invented for the dumb little project animation I'm never realistically going to do. But she's still there...floating around, with the rest of the characters. And since this thread is entitled "Monster," I figured she deserved a place here too. ((I just looked at the photo quality of both of these pictures. For some reason, but of them look a tad blurry to me. *shrugs* Oh well. Sorry about that.))

Let me respond first to your comments about Remsing and Anonyma by saying that I seriously think they make an epic pair. Remsing just looks so murderous and and vengeful and Anonyma just won't go down. Not while she's breathing. And I wouldn't even count her out should she stop breathing entirely. They inspire me. But it is really hard to see Anonyma behind bars. But seeing her like that just makes me want to get back into her character and keep fighting. Also, I feel like I should note how incredibly perceptive you are! I mean her tail to rise as she struggles to stand, but I didn't really think anyone would notice. And her legs really aren't working right, either, though I haven't decided on exactly how she is injured so I don't know why that is. I still have to draw in the injuries she's sustained. That said, I'm moving on to your new ghoul/aura sketch! It really does remind me of one of the heartless from Kingdom Hearts. It's so bad-ass! And so charming! There's something about that curious tilt of it's head that would make me want to offer it my sandwich even if I knew there was a good chance I'd lose my hand. Or my face, for that matter. Great pose for this guy, too. You have just been rocking the poses! You should make a copy of this guy and color him with copic markers sometime after I show up. I think he'd wind up looking epic. And I still love Even and her Dead Cat shirt. Sweet band name, by the way. It makes me think of zombie cats. And that just makes me smile. Don't ask me why.

Really? I think I only noticed Anonyma's legs and tail because you made such an awesome pose for Anonyma. It looks exactly like the kind of position a person would be in if they had had their legs injured. Her position really just adds so much dimension to the picture. It part of why I love it so much! As for Anonyma's injury...*grins* Well, it looks like she's just taken a huge beating all over. I guess it is hard to say, huh? Also, your comment about, "Not while she's breathing. And I wouldn't even count her out should she stop breathing entirely." made me laugh. Haha--zombie Anonyma!!! OOoOoOooOOOO!!! She's going to get you, Remsing!!! Shouldn't have let her die!
Yeah, you're right. The aura-thingy does look like a heartless. But I've always rather liked those guys. I guess it's not much of a stretch in my mind to think I might have subconsciously borrowed from that.*grins* And...I know I'm going to utterly borrow from that design again...twice, actually. With a character from Identity Crisis AND Vanessa. *rolls eyes* Aren't I just overflowing with creativity? [/sarcasm] And now you're the perceptive one. I've always imagined that aura thing sort of just...radiating curiosity. Like, he has something vaguely cute about him once you get over him being so god damn freaky. And thanks for the compliment about poses! I like trying to have fun with them. I don't like to draw too people just standing--I start to feel repetitive if I do that too much.
*grimace* I'm not sure what I could color in with the aura thingy though. Because (again, I'm so creative [/sarcam]), he's all black. *face falls* Like a heartless. *shifty eyes* No, I swear, I didn't mean to steal that.
haheheh--I'm pretty proud of Dead Cat. I think if I ever joined a band, I would want to be called that. Maybe I should go invent the band members.

Oh yeah. If Remsing lets Anonyma die, she'll be his own personal poltergeist/zombie stalker until the end of days.
You should still color a copy of the ghoul! Black doesn't have to just be black. I mean, Annwn's robe in that screen-print I did was black, too, but it took on green highlights because of the other-worldly light reflecting off of it. Even matte black has highlights. You could do something cool and stylized. I mean, you would not believe what copic markers can do! (well, I know you know copic markers do cool stuff, but I'm pretty amazed at how easily I managed to make something look cool with them) I wish I could show you my unicorn picture, but I didn't bring the cord I need to hook my camera up to my laptop.
Dude, if you draw band members you should let me design one! I would , have so much fun with that!

Zombie Anonyma, eh? That would be an interesting rp.
Hmm...Maybe... I don't know. I don't have any talent when it comes to coloring. I feel like I'd just screw up. But I guess the aura picture would be pretty easy to trace (simple enough design), so I could probably just make a copy and experiment with color as well...
DUDE! Heck, do two band members if you want! We should design the band together! That'd be fun! Oh, and I forgot to mention the other reason I liked the name "Dead Cat" in my previous comment. You know, a part from the awesome mental image of Zombie Cats. For some reason, I really liked the name because it invokes the phrase "Dead Men Tell No Tales." And that might seem pretty odd to you, but for a good day or so, I literally thought that the phrase was "Dead CATS Tell No Tales." And why did I think this thing, as odd as it was? In one of the really, REALLY old threads, where we used to have rps with just our avatar selves, Aka pushed Pan into an underground lake and said that. *stupid* So I got the saying confused. I'm a dork.
