Name: Taylie "Tawny" Conner
Age: 16
Race: Human
Description or Picture:
~The sketch (it's not finished). i40.tinypic.com/2ui9ahi.jpg
~Description: Tawny is one of those twig skinny, long-legged girls who look as though one particularly strong gust of wind would snap them in half. Yet there is always this simmering energy about her that marks her presence in a way her scrawny appearance and youthful features never would. She moves as though she's racing, every movement quick and sure of victory, and her dark brown eyes are so lively that they always seem to shine with feverish intensity. At the corner of her left eye are three tattooed stars, outlined black and colored a soft, warm shade of orange. Her hair falls in loose golden-brown waves and is generally swept to one side.
Everything Tawny wears has a hood attached, so that her rat friend may be warm while she perches on her shoulder. And the interior of her shirts have pockets sewn in, for her pet's convenience. Other than that, what she wears ranges quite a bit. The only common features is that nothing she wears could ever be classified as bland. Her outfit's either feature wild patterns, bright colors, or have been altered in some strange way. She always carries a black gym bag with her, crammed with items of clothing, a notebook, a handful of pens, and a small cage, enclosed with cardboard to preserve the items around it, that her rat uses to take care of rat business. Whenever she isn't moving, she finds a sheltered area and leaves the cage open for Skip's use.
Skip is a small rat, still young at eight months of age and a warm tan in color. She has a small white star centered between her bright, alert eyes, white paws and a belly, and sleek, shining fur that she keeps meticulously clean. She never strays far from Tawny, and will chase her down in leaping bounds if the girl happens to walk away from her while she's on the ground for whatever reason. Tawny is incredibly fond of Skip, so much so that she considers the rat one of her closest friends and often speaks to her as though she is seriously considering Skip's opinion on a subject.
Personality: Tawny is one of those odd, cheerfully jaded types. She really doesn't expect anything but the worst from the world and figures that she may as well treat her life as a drama orchestrated for her own amusement. She has a live fast, die young philosophy, and is one of those people that seems determined to leave a pretty corpse behind. She doesn't take life seriously, and would be just as happy dead or dying as she was alive. However, she will fight to the death for anyone who would do the same for her. Her loyalty to those who have shown her kindness and acceptance is the only thing she holds dear and she will not falter in her defense of those individuals. Anyone else, however, matters little to her.
Originally, she joined the rebellion because she wanted a release from a life she despised, and the rebellion gave her an outlet to pour all of her excess, discontented energy into. Now she stays because she has friends amongst the rebels, and she is determined to see this cause through and give it her all.
History: Tawny grew up in a war zone. Figuratively speaking. To anyone who knew anything at all of her family life she was just another rebellious teenager. In reality, though, Tawny hated her mother for caring more about herself and her new husband than she did about her daughter. And her mother hated her for not trying hard enough to be that picture-perfect daughter. The type that never asked questions and would never dream of demanding answers. As a result, Tawny and her mother found themselves staring across a gaping chasm and hating the other for failing to make an attempt at crossing it. As the fights became a nightly event and Tawny's fury grew, she made the decision to leave the house and find a purpose elsewhere. One night, only days after she had turned sixteen, she left the house (she had stopped calling it her house years ago). After wandering the city alone for days, she found herself in an abandoned building that wound up being the rendevous site for the rebels that night. She told them that she had lost a friend because the world couldn't care less, but said no more. She had a knack for metaphors and phrasing. The rebels assumed that she had lost a friend to the Guardian's ruthless attempts at genocide and, since she refused to talk about it, they let her be after a while. That was over six months ago, and she has been a cheerful, shrewd addition to the Rebellion ever since.
Political Standing: Happily associated with the Rebellion.
Abilities: Her long legs make her well adapted to keeping up a quick pace over long distances and her reflexes are as fast as those of a human can ever be. She has a ruthless streak, but knows well when to run and when to fight. Usually her choice is to run, because, truth be told, she isn't a particularly skilled fighter. She knows the basics and is crafty enough to make good use of that knowledge, but she harbors no illusion of triumph against a skilled enemy. She is good with intimidation tactics, however, and will make an opponent believe she is a talented killer if that's what it takes to get out of a mess. She carries a large pocket knife with a six-inch blade that is more likely to slice through paper, fabric, cardboard, or drywall than another person.
Weaknesses: Tawny is just a skinny teenage girl who isn't a particularly skilled fighter. Needless to say, she has quite a few weaknesses. As far as brute force goes, she has nothing going for her, and in a fight with any accomplished fighter (or a member of the Nightwatch, god forbid) her best bet is to escape because she wouldn't stand a chance of winning.
