The Zyren were a small clan of individuals who had half the blood of the Guardians and half the blood of the loup garou running through their veins. This made them immensely powerful, more so than even the Guardians themselves. As a result, they didn't last long. The forefathers and mothers of this group were individuals of the Guardian and loup garou races that chose to attempt living in peace rather than war, and came to Wyvern for safe haven. Twelve of these unusually liberal-minded individuals gave birth to thirty-five children...but the population never grew any larger.
By the time the Battle for Wyvern took place a century later, only these children remained. They were the Zyren, and through the decades they had learned to master the volatile and unpredictable magic that gave them so much power. Even with fewer numbers they were a match for the hundred Guardians that faced them that day...but for some reason that the loup garou still don't entirely understand to this day, they perished. Only their legacy remained. One magical barrier to surround the entire city and prevent the Guardians from ever setting foot in the city, and one Zyren left alive to try and maintain it. His name is Lucian.
Note: There is till room for other Zyren. Lucian is the last of the original thirty-five, but every now and then, a human with a heritage that boasts a loup garou and a Guardian ancestor somewhere along the line will manifest the same powers. However, it is nearly impossible to master such a gift on one's own, so any individual who possesses such unpredictable abilities will never be able to realize their full potential while they are in Manticore. And the Guardians and their Forsaken are always looking for that rare youth that has power enough to some day become a bigger nuisance than most if left unchecked. So a new Zyren has little chance of survival in Manticore and would find it in their own best interests to depart for Wyvern and track down the last of the original Zyren, who would be able to train them.
Further Note: This a limited category. The number of Zyren I'll accept depends directly on the number of characters that fall within the other categories. Right now this category is pretty much closed, but I may make an exception for anyone who sends me a PM on the topic and makes a good argument for their character. Meaning that I want to make sure I'm not handing the role over to someone who is determined to have their character take down the Guardians on their own. Even a Zyren who has learned well the advantages of his/her power does not have strength enough for such a feat!
