Well, this is what happens when the dark-minded, brooding girl tries to draw something cute. *grins* Actually, I had more motivation than that. I was inspired by Jamie, who had wanted one to the Neopet bats that Burger King had been selling, but they sold out too quickly and she'd missed her chance. So I decided that I could create a far cuter bat than the Neopets company, so I set to work. That's also why I originally included the heart. They are one of Jamie's favorite symbols. Then I had to make it my own by going goth all over it, and this is what happened. I was also inspired by Ruby Gloom's Fraidy Bat. There is actually a very close resemblance, even though I drew this from memory alone.

OMG! It's so amazingly CUTE!!! *huggles* I just love the big saucer eyes! You made the so perfectly identical too! And the curly eyebrows, and the curly wings, and its feet pointing inwards! And its expression!! (It goes perfectly with the caption and the heart.) It's too cute! Now YOU might kill me from cuteness!
*grins* It sort of reminds me of the LOLcatz. At least the way you have the caption with grammatical errors on purpose. Neopets has nothing on you Asila! In fact, you could design the pets for neopets, and they'd all be way cooler!

*laughs* I know, it's so cute it makes my heart hurt. The poor little thing looks like he's about to start crying.
When I wrote the words, I was just trying to make my cute little creation seem endearingly innocent and vulnerable. I think the picture would lose half it's cuteness without them!
The markers were the worst, though! I was lucky that I was just crafty enough to use their inconsistency to my advantage. I ended up making the uneven shades of color work for the image. *is proud of herself*
Now I have something to post on my neglected deviantart account when I have time! *cheers*

I know! *hugs it* It needs its heart fixed.
Mm, I think you're taking the cuteness of the picture for granted. True, they do add a whole new dimension of cute to it, but I don't think it'd lose half of the cuteness, per say. It still looks really darling even without the caption.
You made it look amazing in any case! And I love how you colored the eyes and heart the most! And the font you created when writing the caption.
...DA......yeah....*shifty eyes* I'll get back to mine too....eventually....

*shakes head* The heart is so obnoxiously symbolic. I always planned on coloring it a shade similar to that of the eyes (but not the same because I like to vary things a bit) because the eyes are a portal to the soul, and the heart is the organ that we associate with it. The red stitches are symbolic of blood, of injury, of wounds that never really fade. The black color of the patches symbolizes the darkness that spreads further with every wound, and the pure white of the stuffing the innocence and purity lost through every fresh opening. *grins* I have way to much fun with symbolism.
I was originally planning on coloring my little bat black but, not only do I focus way to much on that dark shade and need to work with color more often, but I liked what I did with the lines themselves and didn't want them to blend in. So I picked the blue-violet because I always thought blue was a melancholy color.
Hooray for scribble-writing? *was lazy when she tried to create a font* Unfortunately the "Pwease" tilts upward, but I was lazy and didn't want to rewrite it. Oh well.

I noticed the red stitches, and I got what it meant right away. I thought that was pretty clever really. I haven't gotten to post a picture of it, but I did a stencil on a t-shirt a few weeks ago with a similar concept. The black and white though, I didn't pick up on that until you explained it. I just figured the white was the indicator of the hole that needed to be fixed. And the black....because it looked pretty? And yes, it does look pretty....
I agree. Black is fun, but colors are pretty too! ....Maybe it's just that I've had so many characters who wear black, or have long black hair, or black wings, that I've gotten sick of coloring black, and am now biased or something. But I love the blue!
I noticed, but I thought you did that on purpose. Like, trying to show the dysfunctionality of it. I like it!
