Here it is! ;D
I'm so happy! Last night, when I left Foxflame, I still had no clear visual of Molly as a dragon. But then my mind was still spinning with thoughts of him, and of the thread, and of the board, and of Molly's fate (things are going to get worse for him...) and I was so excited that it's a miracle I could sleep at all. But I did, and when I woke up six hours later and my thoughts touched on him again, I had a full-out, colored visual. So, right before my second class, I decided to try and draw the sketch-version of what I saw. And I like it! I'm so proud of myself! I didn't let myself reference anything except my own mental image, because I didn't want to mimic what someone else had done, and so this is what we've got. Pretty nifty, huh?
What I like about this picture...I like the build of his body, both slender and strong, powerful and graceful. I like the spines, and I like the horns. I like the shape of his head, and the expression that is only just beginning to emerge. I also think I did a good job making his neck long and serpentine, but still strong. I just like this picture!
What I don't like. His wings need to be bigger, but in this sketch I ran out of room. He obviously needs claws/feet, but the page was getting cramped so I just let it slide. I already have what I want to do with them in mind, anyway. His paws are going to be some kind of cross between those of a big cat and a lizard, so that he's able to move across the ground quickly and has more power in his stride, unlike Saika who will have more of a falcon-type foot that is built more for grasping than moving quickly on ground. In fact, Saika is going to be very slender and easier to damage, but Molly is just built tough. But I've gone off on a tangent. I need to continue discussing what I don't like. The spines on his back are too big, but I had to make them that way since the position of his wings blocked them and I wanted to see what they'd look like. So what I'll have to do is angle his wings downward a bit more in the final, so that they're not raised straight into the air, so that I can make the crest of spines on his back smaller but still visible. And other than that, I would just like his head to have more detail, but since I'm going to shade him so dark there's probably no reason for me to do so. You wouldn't be able to see any more detail, anyway.
So...what do you think?
