Name: Dæmon ((shall be spelt "Daemon" in posts for simplicity))
Born: About 10 god years after the fall of Lucifer from the heavens.
Species: Half Fallen Angel, Half Devil
Gender: Male...usually, at least.
Type: Dark
History: Soon after the Fall, when Lucifer had set his domain in Hell, he went about created more subjects for himself. He made Devils from the same sacred fire that god had made the Angels. Lucifer then took the first female Devil he created (a fearsome beauty, a fire elemental with red skin and wavy black hair) to be his second wife (the first wife being Lilith, the first woman and the first wife of Adam). The She-Devil bore Lucifer his first son, who would be named Daemon, from the Greek word meaning to be a descendant of Gods. Prince Daemon, born of a fallen angel and a fire devil-ess, was the first shadow devil.
Daemon became the sort of Renaissance Man of Hell. He excelled in all fields of knowledge--nothing was too trivial for him to learn. He became increasingly powerful through his knowledge, to the point he developed strong psychic abilities. And all of his knowledge he used for the purpose of creating more evil. It was Daemon who saw that God had made Angels, and his father made Devils, and the two would constantly be at war with each other, but humans remained untouched. For this reason, he proposed creating another species, one that would hold nothing but wraith and contempt for humans--a race that would find pain in human happiness and pleasure in their destruction. Given permission from his father, Daemon set about to create the opposition for humans; the race came to be known as 'Demons,' named after their maker. And thus, Daemon became both the Prince of Shadows and the Prince of Demons.
Daemon always strived to remain the top prince, for he was wise enough that being born first was not enough to give him seniority of his brothers, and the fact that he was born first was all the more reason his younger brothers despised him. He knew his father, incapable of love, would not care should someone over power Daemon and replace him. Daemon managed to stay in his father's favor by constantly proving his worth. Being the oldest of thousands of princes of hell ((hey, Lucy took a LOT of wives...)), could be difficult, but Daemon always remained the top prince through his power and cleverness.
In the beginning of Hell, those Devils that had proved themselves to be the greatest of their kind were exhalted by Lucifer, and promoted to the ranks of "Nobles," given more power and dominion over weaker Devils. The Nobles, the warrior class, fell right below the "Royals" (the descendants of Lucifer, which includes Princes and their subsequent off spring) in the hierarchy. The majority of Hell was ruled between the Noble and Royal classes. However, as time passed, there was less and less reason for Nobles to become warriors, as the wealth and power given to their ancestors in the early days of Hell was passed onto idle descendants. The Noble social etiquette became convoluted, developing a large and very strict set of rules and orders that didn't pertain to anything but their own class. Furthermore, the Royal social class was also degenerating. Lucifer was getting towards having thousands of sons, devaluing the meaning of being a "Prince of Hell." Furthermore, the off-spring of the Princes were also losing importance and physical power. Noting the problem, Lucifer put to work a plan to completely change to system of Hell to a republic, in which rulers would be chosen from the strongest and wisest, rather than from the descendants of the old warriors. But to do this, he intended to sacrifice his first son, Daemon, to make the point.
At this time, Mikaki, the Soul-Eater (an early creation of Lucifer's gone wrong; see "Soul Eater" in Arts section ((hhehhehe...I'll finish that story...eventually))), had promised an attack on Hell. Lucifer called for Daemon, his most powerful son, to take the troops he had created and trained to destroy the threat. Daemon smugly accepted, arrogant and sure he would win, for he had never lost a battle. However, Mikaki proved to be significantly stronger in the end, destroying all of Daemon's troops and letting Daemon live seemingly out of spite. Daemon was furious, feeling he deserved at least an honorable death in battle, when Lucifer arrived, applauding for Mikaki. Daemon got to bear witness as Lucifer offered the Soul Eater a new position, "The Overlord of Hell." Mikaki, having foreseen the events in the stars, had known all along the outcome of the battle and the intentions of Lucifer, and agreed. He had only spared Daemon out of pity.
The affects on Daemon's mentality were of great consequence and irreversible. First, he was in a great rage. He knew fine and well that loyalty in Hell is non-exsistant, and that 'love' was a trivial thing beyond the comprehension of any spawn of Lucifer, but he felt that the battle was more than just betrayal, it was joke, there to humiliate him. Daemon then began to question what would have become on him had he died in the battle with Mikaki. He did a great deal of investigation, and found a great deal of evidence that suggested that all the sons of Lucifer did not have souls like the other creatures, but were merely extensions of their father. This terrified Daemon, and for the first time, he came to fear death, since in his case, it would mean he would cease to exist all together. At the same time, the old system of Hell was replaced by the Republic--and while Daemon was offered a high ranking position as a hero/warrior of hell, he hastily declined, choosing to buy a mansion and live in recluse. Daemon began to live in severe depression, despising his life yet refusing to die and for his fear of ceasing to exsist. He became apathetic and cynical towards everything, realizing he had no purpose and there would be no point in anything he did. He would never be good, but at the same time he stopped taking pleasure in acts of evil--he just no longer saw a point to anything. In a way, not doing anything, good or evil, was his only means of rebelling, the only way he felt he could actually be something more than an extension of his father's power.
So Daemon took to not leaving his mansion. Instead, he would pass the time sleeping. He would literally sleep for days, weeks, months at a time. When he would wake, he was not at all like his old self. He was bipolar, zany, loony, and never held a constant persona. He openly critized anything he didn't like, laughed whenever it best suited him, lost all his manners, spoke in strange sentences that seemed to mean nothing, and then would scorn the world and immediately go back to sleep. The beings of Hell felt that Daemon had surely become crazy, and Daemon's younger siblings waited anxiously for Lucifer to denounce Daemon as "top prince" and award the title to another, more worthy son of his. However, he never did. Lucifer just grinned, saying that no other Prince had defeated Daemon, and therefore he would not. And so, many young Princes would try their luck against Daemon, who would on occasion apathetically accept their challenges, only to smash and humiliate then, and retire once more to his couch to sleep (another peculiarity noted in Daemon; his mansion contains 346 luxurious bedrooms, but Daemon always opts to sleep on the same couch.)
In any case, Daemon has noted how increasingly boring his life has become. Being psychic, he's secretly just as aware asleep as awake, so you can only imagine the boredom. Every so often, Daemon does step out of his sanctuary to see the world of mortals, reevaluate his life, and see if something might spark some interest in him once more. It's about that time again, and Daemon is heading to the world.
Description: As part of his magical training, Daemon learned shape-shifting (it seems like everyone does, no?). He originally went for an extremely beautiful form out of vanity. But after his defeat by Mikaki, he chose a form a little bit more practical, though similar. His hair is a pure shiny white, his skin fair. The most striking part are his eyes, which are neither quite of a Westerner or Asian like shape. They are slanted slightly upwards and a pure, cold, ice-blue in color.
Power: Daemon mainly uses shadow magic. His psychic abilities he usually reserves for mind-reading, cyphering, and so on.
Weakness: The obvious answer would be light. ((I think I'm becoming cynical out of sleepiness...eugh, forgive me...))
((This was probably way longer than it had to be....And Rojo will probably want to shoot me for having such a powerful character...and this profile probably completely sucks cuz I wrote it half awake. Yup...enjoy!))
