Like Dante's Inferno, there is more than one layer of hell, or multiple dimensions. So if you have a character who is a Demon, his hell does not have to match up with the version that others have invented(such as Seven and I. *coughs*). However, Seven and I have decided that all demons (at least the higher ranking ones) are aware of these layers even though it up to you as your charming Demon's creator to decide if your character has taken the time to visit these layers. Also, Lucifer is an omnipotent force in all of hell's regions so his presence is a given in any version.
Another thing, all demon's who have descended from the original fallen angels are counted as nobility. They all have rank, whether or not they've earned it, and every demon prince (or princess, if your version of hell allows it. Seven and I have both created realms that don't feature noble female demons. Anything that falls outside nobility is a free for all, though.) wears a signet ring that specifies either the rank of their family(like a family crest) or the rank that they have earned if they are a warrior or worthy of individual notice for some other unique reason).
