And here are two more songs, because I really want Seven to hear them. This song is "Wizards in Winter", by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's entirely instrumental, without lyrics, but all it took for me to fall in love with this band is a ten second clip from this song in an advertisement for an upcoming concert in Madison, where they appear on a yearly basis. Their music is the only Christmas music that I listen to. Another song of theirs that I love is "The World That She Sees", but it's really hard to find music videos for some of their stuff. I could find the lyrics though. At this site. www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/The-World-That-She-Sees-lyrics-Trans-Siberian-Orchestra/030BADA8F91FF0B948256E87002F862D Where you can also listen to the song, if you would like. There in this night There is a life Someone who waits for me Only a child Dreams and a smile Waiting to play
And now she's found Snow on the ground Magic has been set free She's waited here All of this year Just for this day
And then the night comes alive With lights to dazzle And everything's extraordinary Nothing is left ordinary
Christmas has come With its long memory And in my mind It always will be The world that she sees
Caught in this night Pieces of light Glitter and play for you And made of glass Dreams from the past Wait for this day
And if you try Look in the sky One star is shining through And on this eve You can't believe It's far away
And then the night comes alive With lights to dazzle And everything's extraordinary Nothing is left ordinary
Christmas has come With its long memory And in my mind It always will be The world that she sees
There on this night Pieces of light There on this night Pieces of light
Christmas has come Christmas has come
The world that she sees The world that she sees
On this night On this night
The world that she sees
Then after he had thought awhile The father recalled another child Born in a time now far away And how this child's dreams Had reached this day
He wondered what that child had thought And when he slept what dreams he sought And did the shepherds understand All the hopes in that child's hands? And how those hopes would still survive As dreams within each newborn's eyes
* * *
Then the child heard a clock tolling From a distant city tower And she gazed up at the starlight On this Christmas midnight hour
And she wondered if these stars Were all but bits of dreams From somewhere in the distant past That somehow, could still be seen
And she wondered if her candle Upon this magic night
Could be seen by someone faraway As their own starlightThat song is from "The Christmas Attic", if anyone wants to find some good holiday music. The song that I did post is from their newest album "The Lost Christmas Eve".(though I think they actually have another album coming out this holiday season, so it won't be the newest anymore) Another song I love is Seether's remake, "Careless Whisper". There's just something about the guitar solo, and the bitter-sweet lyrics, that really endear this song to me.

Another bitter sweet rock song. Though this one is mostly bitter. And heart-brokenly lost. But I just love those sad rock ballads.
The song is Snuff by Slipknot, which was a shock to me because most of Slipknots stuff is just that hardcore, heavy metal that consists mostly of screaming and rebellious lyrics. But I already posted one of their typical songs, "Gematria", on here. "Dead Memories" was an atypical song by them, since it was more serious and focused less on screaming, but even it still felt angry. But "Snuff" is...different. It's pace is slower, and it's tone is matter-of-fact and absolutely without hope. I think it's beautiful.
But without further ado, here it is.
"Snuff"
Bury all your secrets in my skin Come away with innocence and leave me with my sins The air around me still feels like a cage And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again
So if you love me let me go And run away before I know My heart is just too dark to care I can't destroy what isn't there
Deliver me into my fate If I'm alone I cannot hate I don't deserve to have you Ooh, my smile was taken long ago If I can change I hope I never know
I still press your letters to my lips And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss I couldn't face a life without your lights But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight
So save your breath, I will not care I think I made it very clear You couldn't hate enough to love Is that supposed to be enough?
I only wish you weren't my friend Then I could hurt you in the end I never claimed to be a saint Ooh, my own was banished long ago It took the death of hope to let you go
So break yourself against my stones And spit your pity in my soul You never needed any help You sold me out to save yourself
And I won't listen to your shame You ran away, you're all the same Angels lie to keep control Ooh, my love was punished long ago If you still care don't ever let me know If you still care don't ever let me know

This is the most amazing story-song I have ever encountered, and so I have to share it with everyone. It's from Sonata Arctica's newest album, "The Days of Grays", and I would have shared it earlier if I had known what was going on in it. But I eventually started picking out lines and stringing the pieces together, so I began to hear this story take form...
Well, tonight I finally looked up the lyrics. I'm glad I did, because they clarify things I couldn't hear in the song. Like quotations, and the implied meaning behind the instrumentals. Did I mention that those instrumentals are what make this song seem so amazing to me? Some of the story is unspoken! I've never seen anything like it!
Anyway, the story behind this song is kind of like The Crucible. It's about a frenzied witch hunt. The voice in the beginning is that of the first witch to be burned at the stake, and she's speaking to the one she loved (or she is in the beginning of her solo. Near the end of her lines, they seem to become a narrative...). Who was also a witch who she never had time to recognize him as such. It is his voice that picks up when her lines end. He wants to avenge her.
Many of the following lines that are quoted are the voices of the townspeople, with most of the lines of the remaining true witch appearing closer to the end. Actually, ignore that. Because everything that isn't in quotations seems to be narrated by him, while some of the stuff in quotations is spoken by him. *shakes her head* You'll see why it didn't make much sense to me when I didn't have the lyrics.
The segments are labeled like chapters in a book, and not all labeled segments have lyrics. ((This is just too cool...)) But that's enough background information. Just listen to the song, follow the lyrics, and prepare yourself for one hell of a ride.
Deathaura
"Remember when I told you how my
Kin is different in some ways?
And how you should not fall in love
With someone like me, anyway...
Between the lines, people see signs
When they feel the sear, every day's fear...
And one night their torches
Find the girl without a name...
And the one who has her
Love is no more safe..."
"And until I get my peace I'm but a shade..."
[The Witch-hunt]
The sun lit the White Mountain's snow covered peaks,
There I see you, amongst the good people, suffering...
"She is the One, the unwanted, decidedly so,
'Cause she makes our children cry.
It's a fact, she is exactly that!
A harbinger of death from the world of Witchcraft,
And she's feeding them cakes and her ale to this innocent boy,
And her magic brings dismay..."
[Exposing The Heathen]
"I hear her in the wind, the bane of our town
Come with me, father, I'm to expose a heathen"
In my home town
No one's safe now
Young love's been forbidden
For five-fold kisses, my only love had to die...
[Envy]
"Your crops are all flourishing, so what's the catch?
I know what you are, the new evil unhatched...
As sure as the dawn, they will hear what I know,
And recognize you, and you'll be cleansed too..."
[The Fear]
For the good, trusting people in town,
In their fear stricken hearts,
Seeing skyclad's a sign like the Deathaura,
Every night, so painful's the memory of love in the dark.
One wheel of the year ends their short lives in fear
"I hear her in the wind, the bane of our town.
Come with me, oh, father the heathen is exposed."
[The Grudge]
In the age of burning times, you saved my life
... The blaze grew ever higher.
I was your Cunning Man... hiding in the light,
Now your land shall go sour...
Your own fears will destroy everything
Envy consumes all, and "thou shall not..."
Though it hurts, I must tell you
"I am truly the One
... Behind it all..."
[The Curse]
In the hands of time we all will die
The dead of night will devour your child...
The creation o' beliefs you've been fed
The fear, the unknown, the poison loved by death.
[The Flames]
In the cool of the night air
Flames purify minds, where
Almost anyone could be the next...
"Unless morning finds all of them somehow hexed..."
[Endless Inquisition]
[Instrumental]
[... Together, Today, For All Eternity]
"I remember how you told me,
Your kin's different, on that sunny day?"
"You made me smile,
'Cause I was just about to say the same thing..."
So deeply entwined, love of a lifetime...
But they paid someone to say their torment has a name
And after all these years we get to be together for all eternity...

Molly's song.
Shadows
Sunset, I close my eyes I pretend everything's alright Drowning in anger from all these lies I can't pretend everything's alright Please don't let me fall forever Can you tell me it's over?
There's a hate inside of me like some kind of master I tried to save you, but I can't find the answer I'm holding onto you, I'll never let go I need you with me as I enter the shadows
Caught in the darkness, I go blind But can you help me find my way out? Nobody hears me, I suffer the silence Can you tell me it's over now?
There's a hate inside of me like some kind of master I tried to save you, but I can't find the answer I'm holding onto you, I'll never let go I need you with me as I enter the shadows
I'm holding onto you [x2] There's a hate inside of me like some kind of master I tried to save you, but I can't find the answer I'm holding onto you, I'll never let go I need you with me as I enter the shadows

This is a song by Sonata Arctica that I think is absolutely adorable. In a creepy stalker sort of way. Really, though, it's very sweet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxZcFArCeKsShyI can see how you are beautiful, can you feel my eyes on you, I'm shy and turn my head away Working late in diner Citylight, I see that you get home alright Make sure that you can't see me, hoping you will see me
Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye You can't be acting like my Dana (can you) I see you in Citylight diner serving all those meals and then I see reflections of me in your eye, oh please
Talk to me, show some pity You touch me in many, many ways But I'm shy can't you see
Obsessed by you, your looks, well, anyway "I would any day die for you", I write on paper erased away Still I sit in diner Citylight, drinking coffee or reading lies Turn my head and I can see you, could that really be you
Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye You can't be acting like my Dana? I see your beautiful smile and I would like to run away from Reflections of me in your eyes, oh please
Talk to me, show some pity You touch me in many, many ways But I'm shy can't you see
I see, can't have you, can't leave you, there 'cause I must sometimes see you And I don't understand how you can keep me in chains And every waking hour, I feel you taking power From me and I can't live Repeating the scenery over again
Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye You can't be acting like my Dana? I see your beautiful smile and I would like to run away from Reflections of me in your eyes, oh please
Talk to me, show some pity You touch me in many, many ways But I'm shy can't you see,
Oh baby, Talk to me, show some pity You touch me in many, many ways But I'm shy can't you, I'm shy can't you, I'm shy can't you see

A couple of my favorite Nine Inch Nails songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFCNEfd9mQ8&feature=fvwThe FragileShe shines In a world full of ugliness She matters when everything is meaningless
Fragile She doesn't see her beauty She tries to get away Sometimes It's just that nothing seems worth saving I can't watch her slip away
I won't let you fall apart
She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by Hoping someone can see If i could fix myseld i'd- But it's too late for me
I wont let you fall apart
We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide I'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side ...but they keep waiting ...and picking...
It's something i have to do I was there, too Before everyhting else I was like youInto the Voidwww.youtube.com/watch?v=G4lTMOmH8Dwtried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away talking to myself all the way to the station pictures in my head of the final destination all lined up (all the one's that aren't allowed to stay) tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away tried to save a place from the cuts and the scratches tried to overcome the complications and the catches nothing ever grows and the sun doesn't shine all day tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away

More lyrics for the lyrics page! ...I think someone else needs to post lyrics. I have completely taken over this thread. A song by The Cure One Hundred Yearswww.youtube.com/watch?v=P-9cH4sA9FAIt doesn't matter if we all die Ambition in the back of a black car In a high building there is so much to do Going home time A story on the radio
Something small falls out of your mouth And we laugh A prayer for something better A prayer For something better
Please love me Meet my mother But the fear takes hold Creeping up the stairs in the dark Waiting for the death blow Waiting for the death blow Waiting for the death blow
Stroking your hair as the patriots are shot Fighting for freedom on television Sharing the world with slaughtered pigs Have we got everything? She struggles to get away . . .
The pain And the creeping feeling A little black haired girl Waiting for Saturday The death of her father pushing her Pushing her white face into the mirror Aching inside me And turn me round Just like the old days Just like the old days Just like the old days Just like the old days
Caressing an old man And painting a lifeless face Just a piece of new meat in a clean room The soldiers close in under a yellow moon All shadows and deliverance Under a black flag A hundred years of blood Crimson The ribbon tightens round my throat I open my mouth And my head bursts open A sound like a tiger thrashing in the water Thrashing in the water Over and over We die one after the other Over and over We die one after the other One after the other One after the other One after the other One after the other
It feels like a hundred years A hundred years A hundred years A hundred years A hundred years One hundred years
And a song by The Sisters Of Mercy. One of two that's beginning to lead toward an obsession with the band on my part. A Rock and a Hard Placewww.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgkbzJoewP4And she came to look for me Sold me name and innocence Took my key And told me to follow her Down from igor with her bangles and her reference One from the church from the valley of the Well she wanted a haven and a place to hide So I gave her an alibi took her inside but
A rock and a hard place await for for me Between the devil and the deep blue sea Everything I ever did right or wrong Hid out of sight where I belong, belong
And I didn't have the heart to tell her Why And there wasn't a part of me that Didn't want to say goodbye but
Cause and effect go hand in hand with The devil may care but I don't mind and I Thought she'd never quite understand so I Left her there that night but will she Find me? I don't think so, no When you go, you go alone And I'm gone............. far away [x4]
And I didn't have the heart to tell Why And there wasn't a part of me that Didn't want to say goodbye but...
CHORUS [to fade]

This song represents America's safety net, which provides for the poor, the infirm, the hard-up, the children, and the every member of America's desperately struggling working class. You know, the very same people conservative politicians in this country are trying to blame for the deficit so that they can remove the safety net entirely and give all of the proceeds to highly profitable corporations that just don't need the money. What people who are swayed by the Republican argument don't understand is that the poor are not the cause, but the symptom of the deficit.
But I rant enough about politics elsewhere. I just wanted to post this Rise Against song. I want to learn how to play it on my guitar so that I can play and sing the lyrics as I'm patrolling the capitol square. Thought I'd try and put some pizazz into my protesting and that would be the perfect way to go. Music moves people, and the lyrics definitely apply.
Disparity by Design
All the way at the bottom Of these barrels we cry out So ashamed of our tears that We blame only ourselves That's when they win They keep us convinced To lift up our chins These playing fields are level We all have a chance With that they dismiss The fast lanes they rode In which access depends on who you know Or where you came from Whose daughter are you? Whose fortunate son? We're told To stick out our thumbs They feast from the linens while we settle for crumbs
Is this an over-reaching arm Or is this compassion? Is this a handout undeserved Or a just reparation? (a just reparation)
Away from the towers High above the ceiling tombs Tell themselves That they've earned this By working hard Or playing by the rules But this is only part true A dangerous trick Played on me and you And so like a practical joke We pulled on these bootstraps So hard that they broke
Is this an over-reaching arm Or is this compassion? Is this a handout undeserved Or a just reparation?
And like a single domino That falls while the rest stay vertical We're fed these empty fairy tales Or will you believe them?
And if there's a God You better pray That this sleeping giant never wakes
If we just take a step back A bigger picture we might view Perhaps the man in the gutter Is not so different from you
Come in out of the cold Forget all that you know Because there's always been room By the fire for you, oh Come in out of the cold
Will you believe them? Is this an over-reaching arm Or is this compassion? Is this a handout undeserved Or a just reparation? And like a single domino That falls while the rest stay vertical We're fed these empty fairy tales And I'm through believing
