To all of you familiar with the concept of RPGs, a very important figurehead died today, one of the most important figureheads of the RPG genre. Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, has passed away today, due to heart failure. Link: blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/03/report-gary-gyg.htmlGary Gygax was both my role model and one of my driving inspirations to playing D&D, just as much as my father was. He will be missed, and hopefully his legacy as the father of modern RPG gaming will live on through us, the very genre he created amongst us. In Memorium, Gary Gygax: 1938-2008 - Nemesis

*Salutes*
God rest his soul. He was the man that started it all. Nearly every fantasy game, book, show, movie, drawing wouldn't be here today if it weren't for him. God bless you sir, god bless you.

As has Goblins, which is my favourite Webcomic, closely followed by Order Of The Stick. goblinscomic.com/If you haven't already read Goblins, I highly recommend it.

Yes, I read both of those. Unfortunately, as I am not terribly versed in all the different editions of D&D, I wasn't sure what the pun was when it said "Satan was using the Advanced D&D 2nd Edition rulebook." Care to explain? Anyone?

2nd Edition was riddled with a ridiculous amount of checks and unnecessary saving throws, just as well, 2nd Edition made many references to actual demons and devils mentioned in various religions, which put the whole game in question to those of highly religious belief. 3rd Edition remedied that by instead making separate types of demons, and left their names and any references that were brought up ambiguous.
The more you know... ;D

...the easier it is to take over the world? Thanks for the explanation, it is greatly appreciated. Do you have the second edition books? I'm sort of curious to go look at them now.....

I saw that already, it was announced WAY back in November, if I remember correctly. I'm still kind of skeptical on how the game is going to run online, but anything that will help me run campaigns is a good sign in my eyes.

Yeah...I thought it might be a little weird... Kinda take the fun outta it. 'S more fun when you get to look at their faces when the don't make a saving throw...And I'm kinda half and half about gnomes becoming a monster and Tieflings becoming a player race.
