Nope, the novel is old as dirt, so I'm pretty sure any copyright would have expired by now. And even if they didn't, Genji is just a Japanese name. You can't copyright a regular name.

See, it happened again! I've created a character inadvertantly who's name means something in another language. This is freaky...Next I'll be told Mok, Tial or Kel are in other languages.

Well...I hate to break it to you...but I'm pretty damn sure Kel is a real name. I think I actually met someone named 'Kel.'
In any case, I'm sure that the way you're pronouncing Genji and the Japanese pronouciation are different.

Nah, he's to small time to do something like that. He was part of a cult, but he broke a tenet and ran off still wearing the robes.
