He saw her eyes flicker back, and he liked that even less than her outright staring. Lingering feelings were always such a pain. He had seen some of his past wives have them for old lovers. Granted, their feelings, whether of affection of hate, had never impacted him in any way before. It was rather disgusting that his existence rode upon something so fragile as the whimsy of a young person's heart. Infatuation set in quickly, and was often confused with 'love'--at that point, his mind made a mocking, high-pitched infantile sound. He did not have to go down that road with his new wife, but it seemed that he would have to shape up for it nonetheless.

Nef glanced at Daemon now and shy away from him a bit, he could feel her hand pulling away from him. "I'm sorry." She mutters to Daemon knowing that he could plainly she her feelings on her face. She then jumps a bit and yelps as a sharp pain runs threw her leg. "USHA!" Nef yells as she looks down to her daughter. Usha had bit into her leg to get at some blood. The other princes just stare now as they watch the little girl cling to her mother's leg.

Daemon immediately saddled up beside her, rather discreetly stepping in front of view of Usha. Not that Usha was hidden per se, just that it obscured the fact that she was biting Nef. His arm slinked around Nef's waist, his smile demonstrating surety as some of the faces in the crowd hardened. That blackened energy went straight to Daemon, but this time, he only acted as a converter. From Daemon's connection around Nef's waist was a cool, healing sensation. Rather than keeping the energy he stole from the others for himself, he gifted to Nef. "Shush, my dear," he murmured in a just barely audible whisper. "And don't forget to smile..."

Nef shivered as she left the energy move threw her body and right out into Usha. Nef winced as Usha bit down harder. She grimaced now trying to play off what was going on. "Ah.... She has never bitten this hard." Nef mutters back to Daemon closing her eyes and leaning her head on his shoulder. Nef was only doing this to try and hide her face but the princes where becoming for offended by this sudden show of 'affection' on Nefertari's part. Isis who wasn't standing that far away hand to pull her hand up to hide a laugh that was creeping out of her mouth.

Daemon could not help but notice the circuit. 1. Usha bites Nef for energy. 2. Daemon puts arm on Nef to heal her. 3. Princes spew negativity, feeding the system. 4. Usha gets extra dark energy from Daemon using Nef as a conduit, ensuring that the toddler won't be letting go of her mother at any point soon, meaning that Daemon can't let go of Nef, meaning that the princes would continue to be offended, meaning that Usha will continue to not release her clenched jaws, creating an infinite loop.
Isis had good reason to want to laugh. It was pretty hilarious. Too bad he had to stop it. '<Usha... let your mother go...>"

The only problem with Usha feeding off this new found delicious energy was the fact that it was dark energy. At the command of her father normally Usha would have let go and would have left it at that, however seeing as she was now able to tap into her demonic side more she wasn't to inclined to do that. Usha's eyes moved to her father the pupils of them slitted like a cats and she gave a very low growl at him. The demon in her didn't want to let his food source go if she could help it.

Daemon started to give her a stern look. "<Usha...>" he said, and though it was only her name, the inflection of it sounded more like Demonic once again. 'Behave yourself, you're making your mother upset. And you don't want that, do you?'

Usha started to pull her lip up her growl again but her eyes flickred up to Nef's face who was still hiding it from the pain. Seeing this Usha let go of the leg and looked at the bit marks she had left. She placed her hand over them and closed her eyes becoming upset at what she had done. She wraps her arms around her mothers leg again but this time doesn't bit it, just hugging it repeating in her head she was sorry thought she knew her mother couldn't hear.
It was then that one of the princes deiced that he had had enough of this and gave a small cough. "I'm sorry to interupt this family moment but I was told that we would be able to meet Nefertari not..." He gives a sideways look at the two girls, Ank had set her eyes on him and gave him a dark glare. "Not her children and so called husband." He said finishing his statement not taking his eyes off the little girl that was glaring at him.

To this, Daemon stepped forward. "Till contest deems me otherwise, I am Nefertari's husband, not a 'so-called' one," he said, his voice never straying from calm or collected. Likewise, his eyes did not focus on just that single prince who voiced the offense, but throughout the room: the message was for all of them. He continued to step forward, and his arms came apart in an rather welcoming gesture. It may have seemed odd to any amateur ruler, but it wasn't. A true leader had to conduct himself accordingly. He smiled, seemingly nothing plastic or false to the expression, no matter how little he thought of them in truth. "And, it is my pleasure to aid Nefertari in welcoming you all here to this kingdom. Just as it is my honor to greet you--you who have traveled such distance--who have to invited me to duel."
He turned in his position, to see more of the crowd. "But before we break swords and spill blood, let us break bread and drink wine to ensure that there is no hostility toward one another outside the gladiatorial ring, and that this is good sport, so that our battles will be carried only by us, and not our peoples and our nations. So that there will be good air between us, so that we all may know the contest to be fair and free from deceit. And so that when this tournament ends--regardless of its final outcome--we leave satisfied and as friends, that the blood split only strengthened the bonds of brotherhood rather than fueling the cowardice of treachery and hatred."

Nef watched Daemon and couldn't help but let a smile form over her face. His words where so strong and dominate but had all the confidence and clam that he had been showing this whole time. She watched him walk closer to the princes and listened to him speak. With out knowing her face reflected her fondness towards him that she was feeling right now. He had the potential to become a great king and that very moment she wanted to turn to her mother and plead with her to call off this whole thing but she knew that even her mother couldn't stop this.
The prince that Nefertari was staring at nodded his head. "Yes I fully agree with Prince Daemon. Lets not let this competition rune what out parents have worked so hard for, for this peace between us."

When Daemon looked about the crowd, he could not only saw most all of the other princes nodding in agreement, but their spirits had been lifted as well. Of course, that brought him an unusual mix of pride and disappointment. As pleased as he was to know that he was all that and more, and that he truly was just as capable as ever... their dissent was still far more delicious. Well, if he was going to be sticking around this world, that was something he'd just have to get used to. Besides, the handful of arrogant men who were not moved by his words proved to be quite tasty. Their dissent had grown, especially fueled by the sight of the now appeased royalty around them. That more intense brand of hatred was more filling anyways. Plus, it was good to keep those people against him in the minority.
And so, Daemon offered out his hand to shake and greet any and all of the princes who came to approach, to get this affair underway. This was not so different than the earliest part of his life, which was--frankly--his favorite of the eras and eons. But after a short while of this early meet and greet, he turned his head over his shoulder to look Nefertari's way, and with a small gesture beckoned her to join him in their diplomatic duties.

Nef smiled at him and bent down to the girls sending them off to go and stand next to their grandmother as she goes and stands next to Daemon. Now as they stood there more princes started to show up and Nef got a confused look on her face. "Oh no." She muttered as a sudden realization dawned on her face. Only four gods had come to her mother this morning but now more princes where starting to show up. Word must have spread fast about this contest to win Nef. She only stood but Daemon for what seemed like a moment before she turned back around. "I am not staying around for this. I don't want all these men eying me up like prize. I'll see you later Daemon."
As she headed back to get her girls she was intercepted by the first prince she saw. He was talking to her in a hushed tone but it was clear by the way Nef was holding herself made it clear that she was feeling uncomfortable but Daemon could clearly hear her say to him. "Vrika I'll come and find you later and talk then. I can't right now." She turned back to her mother and picked Ank up motioning for Usha to fallow as the three of them left the room. Isis wasn't looking to happy as well to see that more people where coming to invade her home.

Daemon never flinched. Not when the task of greeting the multitude alone. Not as he was abandoned to the multitude as the man all these men wanted to cut down for Nef. Not as his 'family' left, not even when he overhead Nef leading on that boy....
Huff.
He didn't flinch, but it didn't mean it didn't upset him.
So he was in charge now with the guests. Very well. One did not serve as the First Prince of Hell for four billion years to slink away to the shadows when some thirty young men presented themselves as competitors for his wife. Not when he had been dealing with --at any one point-- thousands of younger, usurping brothers.
"Please, follow me," he said as he finished with the last, off to lead the gods and goddesses to the banquet hall where festivities surely awaited them. Really, do I have to do everything around here?

Daemon wasn't left alone very long as Isis made her way to walk next to him. "That was a nice show you put on but if you wish to leave you can. I can take it from here. I will have to meet with all their parents." Isis gives a little sigh now. "I don't like dealing with all these gods and goddesses but this must be done."

Daemon looked at Isis, then back at the Gods. "No, you shouldn't have to deal with them alone either," he said, being a stand up guy.
