A man walks through the darkened trees. He is an old man. He wears robes and he walks purposefully, as if he every action he takes has perfect reason. And so they do. He has, after all, seen the past, present and future of this world. He was meant to walk in this forest on this day at this hour for a reason.
But disregarding all that, he was an old man and he liked to enjoy the air while he could.
The flickers of light that manage to scrape through the gnarled branches of the trees spread occasional moonlight over his face. Xillian looks up towards Thornfield Mansion...he knows what dwells there...he knows of the pain...of the hurt...of the hate...
But that is not the purpose of his walk. There are more important things happening here tonight at this location.
Humans are funny creatures, really. They started off beating eachother with sticks, then beating eachother with swords and spears, and then they were shooting eachother with guns, and then they were blowing eachother up with nuclear missiles...and now they're ripping eachother apart with magic. Humans never change.
Maybe it's boredom? Maybe it's a deep inate urge to assert authority? Maybe it's just too much effort not to beat the living daylights out of eachther...any of the ways, humanity always seems to screw itself up.
Xillian chuckles.
"It's what seperates them from the animals..." he murmers to himself "animals never had a war..."
