((I really need to think of something better to do...))
A few moments later, Joseph was almost excitedly pressed up by the wire cages of the Aye-Ayes, while Lin was sitting despondently on a bench, frowning and arms crossed. Joseph clicked his tongue a few times, snapping his forefinger and thumb together silently. Not that Lin would notice, as she was too busy pouting. Her "new boyfriend" sucked. Maybe. Perhaps. She wasn't sure anymore of what to think. Eventually she stood up, walking over to him.
"Why are we here?" she sounded just faintly bitchy. He shrugged casually, still watching the monkey-like creatures.
"Aye-Ayes are supposed to bring bad luck and misfortune." He then turned and looked to her. "I don't know. I just like the zoo. I come like, every day."
"What?" she stared at him incredulously. She really could believe what she was hearing, or stop her mouth from hanging open. Joseph resumed looking at the aye-ayes, letting a few fingers slide through the tilted squares of the wire cage. A few of the animals had been watching the man curiously, coming unusually close for nocturnal, shy animals.
"It's true," he said casually. Lin paused, as if there were some riddle to take apart.
"Why?" Again, he wordlessly shrugged.
"Who do you suppose is more unfortunate, Lin? Them in there, or us out here?" he asked instead of answer her question. She blinked, seriously considering that he may very well not be all there up there.
"....What?" she asked again, this time, her eyes squinting at him. She then shook her head. "Joseph, don't get into all the weird metaphysical stuff. I don't know. I don't like philosophy and stupid crap like that. We are."
He looked down at her, the other worldly quality once again shining his eyes, as if she seemed very small and ignorant from where he stood.
"I suppose you're right. They're caged after all." He resumed looking at them, as they looked back, locked in silent conversation. "Though...not seeing a cage and not having one are understandably two different things."
"What? What are you saying?" she asked, looking mildly offended. Her, caged? They had once spoken, as all people who claim to be 'different' and 'unique' do, about the flaws of society, of how people are imprisoned in their superficial roles , their fake lives. People, Joseph had once told her, were fools, who willingly picked their cages. They wanted to be strung along, they allowed themselves to be brainwashed constantly.
Of course, these had all been late night, post-sex ramblings on his part, so she had only tiredly nodded into his chest. She supposed she should have noticed something then, but, it wasn't like he knew her either. Not really. Not where she had been going. Not what she had learned.
If only she were wiser.
After another odd pause, Joseph continued. "Besides, I thought you liked metaphysical stuff." Somehow, Lin just kept feeling angrier and angrier. He managed to push all her buttons. First, by beating her an argument, now, continuing to humiliate her....

Radar simply shakes his head sadly as he watches, quickly reaching behind him to form a crude bench from the darkness. He flops down. "This is absolutely pitiful."

"Maybe....maybe we should go down there before something happens..." Ash suggested.
"Joseph, you're really strange," Lin told him. "I know." He turns to face her, smiling. "I think I might become one of those crazy people who try to let loose all the animals in the zoo." "What? Why? You'd be trampled." "Oh," he waived such a notion away. "Besides, I need minions of my own, don't you think?" "What?" "Oh...you mean Ash didn't share the fourth book with you?" he smiled playfully. "Which book?" she frowned slightly.
Ash, in the Dark Realm, tensed in a somewhat comical fashion.
"The fourth book...in the latest installment my mother wrote." "What! She has it! When did this happen!" "My sister gave it to her." "What! That is--" she stopped, sputtering. "Not cool! Why didn't she tell me?" Joseph shrugged. "Have you been busy lately? Like...doing something that hasn't given her the chance to bring it up?" Lin blinked, staring at him oddly. What the hell did that mean. For a second, she thought of the midnight society. The magic. The life she tried to share with Ash. She regretted taking her though. Ash clearly wasn't open minded enough for that sort of thing. She could never really understand. She should have foreseen how she would have reacted to magic.

Radar facepalms. "Yes, Lin, lying is the proper response..." He sighs, rising fluidly. "Let's get in there."

He slings his arm over her shoulder, holding her just a tiny bit possessively. It appears that her little excursion into the Sanctuary has brought out his protective side, especially around Lin. He pulls them from the DR just around the corner from Joseph and Lin. "I thought I might find you here," he says softly as they approach.

Joseph begins to grin. "Radar!" he exclaimed merrily. "Fancy seeing you here. Gosh, it's been so long. I don't think I've seen you for a whole 3 hours!" he laughed playfully.

"You disappear for long enough, I always have to come find you," he replies softly with a smile. "No matter what other pressing matters I have to attend to..." He gives Ash a sly sideways glance.

"Oh, well, you always know where I am anyways," --Joseph laughs, then shakes a tuft of hair out of his eyes. Lin stares between them, wondering what that meant.
"You!" she suddenly takes notice of Ash. "You have the fourth book and you didn't tell me!?
"Hey, chill....I wasn't supposed to give it to anybody, k? Besides, it's like, coming out in less than a week."

"Elena did threaten to dismember her if she told anyone," Radar murmurs, glancing at Lin. "I suppose you count as anyone."
